Before you go

Bring a valid photo ID. If you are a medical patient, bring your active registry card. Check the dispensary's payment options before leaving.

If you take medicines or have health concerns, ask a clinician or pharmacist about cannabis first. Don't drive impaired. Keep products locked away from children and pets. Avoid combining with alcohol.

Ohio basics
  • Adult-use buyers must be 21 or older with valid photo ID. Medical patients need an active registry card and recommendation (R.C. 3796.20; O.A.C. 3796:7-2-04).
  • Keep edible adult-use and medical products in their original packaging when not actively in use (R.C. 3796.06(H)).
  • In a car, dispensary products may remain in their original unopened packaging. Opened products and homegrown cannabis go in the trunk; if there is no trunk, use the location specified in R.C. 3796.062: behind the last upright seat or an area not normally occupied by people and not easily accessible by the driver.
  • Adult-use smoking and vaping are restricted to private residential or agricultural property, subject to the exceptions in R.C. 3796.06(C). No public, workplace or vehicle use. Smoking medical marijuana is prohibited.
  • Don't bring cannabis into Ohio from another state.
